Cop the record, it's Nice!

23 year old emcee Ensilence has arrived in discreet, but impacting fashion. A product of the Harbor Heights projects, Ensilence taps into the challenges, and lessons of the everyday struggle so many face. Over the last nine years Ensilence has built a dangerous arsenal of conscious lyricism, clever rhyme schemes, and the rare, uncanny ability to convince listeners. All traits which thoroughly resonate through her latest album “Between The Lines”. To get an idea of the quality music contained on this album, one must try to imagine a mix of Jean Grae, Talib Kweli, and a true taste of originality belonging to Ensilence herself. The conscious, and political attack launched exceeds efficiency, as many tracks actually pull listeners into what could be called ’hip hop knowledge 101’. While many rap (I tend to label most of them ’pop’ these days) releases on today’s market are cluttered with shallow, senseless, and most importantly untrue messages; Ensilence keeps thing’s simple, and honest; even if some may not respect the truth on display.“Between The Lines” boasts some excellent production, tailor made for our lead vocalist, and a few guest verses help add some diversity to this collection. Ensilence’s delivery carries an east coast influence, but is delivered in refined fashion, with complete vocal confidence, and strong presence. For such a young addition to the game, Ensilence contains a maturity rarely rivaled by true veterans of the genre.A few songs to keep in rotation at all times: Steppin Stone, Between The Lines, Industry Jacker, Rebirth II, and Seed. All of which garner great replay value, and tote noteworthy messages that some will choose to ignore, and some will choose to acknowledge. The wisdom and power are right here, on this album. How you embrace growth, knowledge and wisdom, is up to you.

My rating: 3.5 Stars (solid replay value)
